Alyce C. Thompson is a full-time mother, author, publisher and entrepreneur. Most important, she is a God-fearing woman with three beautiful children La’Rue, Tobias and Aloni that she’s raised in the admonition and fear of the Lord just the way her mother raised her six siblings and herself. Only her mother, Prophetess Delores R. Thompson held sermons and bible study in their West Philadelphia home with very strict conditions which is the basis of Alyce’s existence.
Very early, Alyce’s mother observed the artistic and creative gifts in her. She could do just about anything–was good at a number of sports, could fix things manually, sing a little, dance, and she had a love for art, reading and writing. She knew instinctively that writing was an art, and art a form of expression.
Not only was Alyce talented in various areas, she was a dreamer and spent quality time alone in a very strange place–a small, dark closet under the stairway of their home. Alyce also spent quiet time staring out of her mother’s bedroom window. She knew that having a vision was important because without a vision, she knew that she would perish. So, with that thought in mind, Alyce knew that she had to do one of two things; either be a strong leader and impact others’ lives in a powerful way or succumb to the devil and his trickery. She chose to adhere to the Word of God.
It wasn’t long before Alyce’s mother recognized the call on her young life; her personality, visions and dreams were special gifts from God. Regardless of the constant curve balls that the devil threw her way, Alyce was very persistent with a drive that would lead her to be an overachiever.
Although Alyce seemed to be excelling in a number of ways, she wrestled with a pain deep within. The fact that her mother was left to fend for her seven children and herself was overwhelming and to add salt to the wound, her family was tormented and abused by an outside link, and Alyce was fondled by a longtime church friend whom she and her mother had trusted and confided in.
To Alyce, life seemed to have dealt her an unfair hand, but whenever she’d found the inner strength to move forward again, she did and was successful at whatever she set out to do with the grace of God, of course. It was He who constantly spoke to her spirit man which helped her to rise each time that she had taken a fall. He also equipped His “chosen one” for the battlefield because the devil would come in many disguises knocking at her door but Alyce was destined to overcome the forces of evil. Through her experiences, constantly struggling with the good and evil, Alyce could only become a compassionate writer. Although she gives credit to people and circumstances that surrounded her trying life, she couldn’t be more grateful for what God bestowed her. “If it had not been for certain situations, life wouldn’t have held so many meaningful things.”
Alyce never imagined that her first novel would be about her own life but when God says, “It is written” it will come to past and so it had. The triumphs and tribulations that she’d experienced in her trying life were compiled together and put into her many novels and poems which would later save souls and lead Alyce to teach whatever God put on her heart.
Alyce’s family is her motivation, especially her children who have been through the struggle with her every step of the way. They have contributed to her successful career and have written short stories, poems and lyrics which will be published in the near future.Alyce’s first novel, “3 Men I Chose to Love” was finally released to the public at the end of 2003 and is still selling out in stores worldwide. A Lifetime of Pain along with 3 Men has a soundtrack by Alyce’s cousin David Josias and her sons, La'Rue Aleem and Tobias Craig–the talent runs in the family.
Currently Alyce is working on her sixth novel titled “The Virtuous Daughters.” She has also completed the screenplays for “3 Men I Chose to Love” and “A Lifetime of Pain” and is now working on the entire feature for both which she plans to produce and direct herself.
Alyce is a graduate of Overbrook High School and Berean Institute of Cosmetology where she earned a certificate/license for Cosmetology Manicurist. She also attended CCP for prerequisite in P.A. She is a former writer/editor for Philly 944 magazine and is the founder and CEO of Alyce C. Thompson Books and ALTA Films
